In news welcomed by Tourism Fiji, the Japanese Government has eased COVID-19 border controls further, from 1 March by raising the daily cap on entrants allowed back into Japan.

The Japanese Government announced Fiji is no longer a "designated country"andtherefore,travelersfromJapan toFijiwill be ableto spend theirtime inFiji withoutquarantine measures bothafter enteringFijiand afterreturningtoJapan if they've had a booster vaccine.Tore-enterfapan, travellers will require a negative PCR test result conducting in Fiji prior to departure home. 

Tourism Fiji CEO Brent Hilt said, "This is an important milestone for tourism in Fiji and a welcome step towards the long-awaited recovery of the Japanese market. With the resumption of Fiji Airways' direct flights expected in May, Fiji will again be at the doorstep of Japanese travelers perfectly placed to celebrateGoldenweek" .
